@dar76124, that is an interesting piece. Hopefully others will weigh in as this isn't my area of expertise. That said, I believe that you have a "so-called dollar" and this website, while not showing a pic of this specific medal, may be able to help if the folks here can't get you more info: http://so-calleddollar.com/DollarSite/Default.aspxIf you do find out more about it, please let us know!

How big is it? Because of the date, it appears to be more directly related to the dedication ceremonies. The Expo wasn't held until May, 1893. I found this site but, I didn't see yours listed: http://www.socalleddollar.com/worldcol.html

Dunno about the medal, but at least Columbus looks like a male, unlike the image on the coin.

It's the one John1 linked to at tokencatalog and considered "unlisted", 31mm
If this was a souvenir of the dedication it seems like it would be more common.

Anyone who collects Classic Silver Commemorative would probably consider this token as a neat addition to their set. It does celebrate the same event as our very first CSC. If you consider selling it on ebay list it under the CSC category and the exhibition/world fair category. You can list in two categories.

Nice looking token, it's identified as Eglit-239 in the Nathan Eglit book on Columbiana. It was also produced in tin or white metal. Here's a link to the web page that has the white metal variety pictured. Their web site says white metal but the Eglit book says tin. http://www.1893columbianexpo.com/Eg...201-300.html

Thanks, qktbird! That tokencatalog link says "holed as made" which is obviously not true.
