I'm not a note collector, but I did spot this star note when I was picking up some cash for our vacation trip. Is it worth keeping, or is it basically just a 50-dollar bill? Unfortunately is is not in CU condition.

If you can afford to just lose the 50 bux, you could stash
it away in a safe place for your grandchildren to make a
couple bux from it when you're long gone.

Or, you could throw it on ebay and see if anyone bites.
The way I see it, something is only worth what it will
bring on ebay.

Jaobler, I think I would try ebay. It is a fairly low serial number and it might attract some attention.

Bryan-

I've noticed that too. In the past month I've pulled 4 star notes from every day change.. three 1s and a 5. Not too bad.

I guess people are spending that 'rainy day fund' under the mattress...

Working the cash register at work I have definitely noticed a steady pick-up in Star Notes over the past few months. It seems I find one every other day or so know. The old style Greenbacks are popping up too--found a 1981 and a 1950 $10 note today, and a $1 2003 Star Note.

I actually have too many star notes if there is such a thing! I would feel guilty spending then though, so they're just hanging out in my currency album. If anyone is interested in buying/trading for some shoot me an email and we'll work out the details.
