Catching up on this Thread went very well with my coffee this morning. You have such a nice Collection!

You asked the question - "The kiosk machines that you insert 50 cents to a dollar plus a penny and crank it to smash a keepsake souvenir. Does anyone ever recall seeing machines for the purpose of selling souvenirs that could produce a pressed cent like this?"

I remember going on vacation as a child (1970's) to the North Carolina mountains. I believe it was the place called Tweetsie Railroad, they had one of the kiosk machines. If I remember correctly the Cent it gave was supposed to resemble a Cent that was ran over by a train on a train track, somewhat shaped like a horse saddle. I believe it was stamped with a train and Tweetsie Railroad on the Cent. I know I got one every time we visited the mountains/tweetsie railroad, but sadly I did not keep up with them over the years.

Thanks HumblePie. Also thank you for the info on the kiosks. Sounds like there were multiple types of those machines prior to the modern keepsake coin 'smashers'.

It has been a long time since horticulture class in high school but if memory serves, this looks like a Black Maple...

This one has been up for debate in my house as to what it is. We've come to a final consensus that it's a tree...Any other guesses?

Looks like a tree .Maybe it's a fireworks display. The newer counter stamps with the tapering to the deign make it difficult to see the details.Must be that way so the coin releases from the stamp easier or it prolongs the life of the stamp.

I agree that the steep tapering on some of the stamps does make it harder to discern the details. There have been a few lately that have been up for discussion because of it.

You should get your own made and do some up! Maybe a CCF stamp?

You know what? Sure. I'll have a stamp made for the CCF and I'll stamp some contemporary LSCs for distribution by the CCF family.

But I'd like design ideas for the stamp from you all. Remember we only have the real estate to the right of Lincoln's head to work with.
