I have some coins from Liege (1745 1 Liard and 1751 2 Liard), but I've never been able to find them in Krause. I found them listed in an old 1750-1850 catalog once (Yeoman book?), though I don't remember where that was. Where would Liege be in a Krause catalog? It is in modern Belgium, but at that time, was this part of the Austrian Netherlands, Spanish Netherlands, or someplace else?

G'day,
Liège has a complicated history, and quite a few names -
"Older English: Luick,
Walloon: Lidje,
Dutch: Luik,
German: Lüttich;
Latin: Leodium;
until 1949, the city's name was written Liege, with the acute accent instead of a grave accent) ...
The city is the principal economic and cultural centre of Wallonia. ... the city became the capital of a prince-bishopric, which lasted from 985 till 1794. ... Although nominally part of the Holy Roman Empire, in practice it possessed a large degree of independence.
... After a rebellion against rule from Burgundy, King Louis XI of France and Duke Charles the Bold of Burgundy captured and largely destroyed the city in 1468 ... Liège was technically still part of the Holy Roman Empire. After 1477, the city came under the rule of the Habsburgs and, after 1555, under Spanish sovereignty, although its immediate rule remained in the hands of its prince-bishops. ... The Duke of Marlborough captured the city from the Bavarian prince-bishop and his French allies in 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession. ..."
but I can't see who controlled it in the years you are interested in: 1745~1751.
The next place I'd look would be France.
Coin-collecting is a great point of entry to studies of history, geography, art, and a few other topics.

Liege has it's own independent entry in my 3rd edition 1700's Krause (2002), under "L", between Liechtenstein and Lithuania. In the old Craig catalogues (1750-1850), all Dutch and Belgian states and provinces were listed under "Low Countries".

Edit to add: if you've got a different edition, look it up in the Country Index. If it's not listed there, it may have been omitted from your edition.
