It's still a great find though! Did you find this in circulation or did you pull this from a roll? Acetone might help, but I'm not sure on that subject because I have never used Acetone on any of my coins before.

Excellent example!
Acetone wouldn't hurt it any.

E&V, I bought this one variety today while buying those error coins. I find a lot going through rolls but I hadn't found one of these in any condition so I grabbed it for my collection.

Tropicalbats, that one isn't easy to find. Awesome purchase. Congratulations on this one.

Not for lack of trying! Some of the rolls I haven't got to yet...

In the rolls that you haven't gone through yet, keep an eye out for die clashes! I've found several 70s with both obverse and reverse clashes. On the obverse look in front of Lincolns face for the columns of the memorial and also behind his head and under Liberty. On the reverse look in the first three bays of the memorial. On The ones I found you can clearly see the inverted Y from Liberty in the second bay and the inverted T in the first bay as well as Lincolns collar in the third. I suggest that you take a look on doubled die.com and bring up the 1970 s doubled dies and look for the die markers. On a few of mine you can see an area above the 7 in the date that kinda looks like a stretched dot that is actually, according to John Wexler, a doubled die. Again though, look for the die markers. I feel that the odds that you may have a die clash or minor doubled die are pretty good. Best of luck with them I hope this helps you and please post any finds and or questions if your not sure.

First off, great find. Not an easy one to find. Secondly, it's a very nice coin and with that being said I wouldn't touch it with anything. Acetone (while technically is "preserving" and not cleaning) seems unesesarry for this coin.

I wouldn't use acetone on this full red cent. Nice one.

Quote: In the rolls that you haven't gone through yet, keep an eye out for die clashes! Probably due to cleaning up the above mentioned clashes. 1969 and 1970 are the two years most known for die polishing issues that left the memorial building with a floating roof and weak initials. Thanks, Doug.
