Just curious if this is caused by a broken die and does it carry any significance in variety or value? I have seen broken 9 and 5...

The only thing I see is the die crack extended from the cross bar of the 5 to the 9 and that's normal die wear. The dent on the 5 is just a hit that happened after the minting of the coin. If it were a die break, the dent would be a mountain, not a valley. The die is incluce. If you look up on google "BIE" cent, you will see what I mean.
