Hello everyone ,

Wanted to wish everyone Merry Christmas and happy Holidays. So I was at my parents house and I found my unsearched pennies that I hid for like 20 years and I just found it in her garage. Found one of these coins but not sure the year...and these kinda errors are common and are they worth keeping ?

I'd say acid but rims are there. It is trying to mimic a double grease-filled strike, but is a modified coin, not a strike error, the rims are too messed up. Think drops of acid applied to center of both sides.

First thing to do, if it is within your ability, is to acquire an accurate weight (0.01g resolution). This will immediately indicate whether the planchet has been tampered with.

The cent appears to be a " Dryer Coin". Damaged from tumbling of some sort.

Merry Christmas!

Og_cujo33 question on the second image. what is that blueish metal on the left side of the coin. I am just curious is this a plated steel core Canadian penny. the reason I as is because the 12 sided penny. I did not think had a steel core. Og_cujo33 if this is a steel core. check it with a magnet. if it is magnetic let the members here know.

Weight's in line with an '82 to '96 penny weight (and 12-sided).

I agree with Scissel; Dryer Coin.
