It just may be OJC, I'm not finding any die markers but it does look close. Also looks like a bit of a die clash too. In front of Lincolns forehead and at about 3 o'clock just west of the rim.

Thank you both. I'm still trying to learn this too and I don't think it is Die Deterioration but I may be wrong. They don't show any die markers and it may even be a DDO-010 if it is a DDO at all. Yep, Crazyb0 and coop may come along and they will let us know for sure.

Thanks Tootallious, that spot is PMD. There is a small gouge there in the metal, it just doesn't show up well in the photo.

Mrzllewellyn Quote: now I just look for the big one and that's it non of the other ones matter to me anymore I usually do the same but this one just caught my eye for some reason. It may be nothing but I would like to know for sure so we can just wait for the experts.

Coop pops out of no where but crazyb0 is always lurking so he is most likely to be first

Most of what you are pointing at is master die doubling but the bar above the horizontal part of the 2 is almost certainly DDO-009. Yes, DDO-009 has the master doubling so that is a match but you really have to look for die markers on those doubled 2's in 1972 as there are a number of them on Wexler's site. Good find as these aren't so common.

Thanks tropicalbats. Looking at Wexler's, it states "Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A diagonal die scratch protrudes from the rim just below the B in the designer's initials. A die scratch runs NNE from the top right of the R in LIBERTY." I can see them both, so apparently it is an 1972 1¢ WDDO-009 "Best Of" Variety obverse stage A. Thanks for your help.

It really was the quality of your photos that did all the work. That makes all the difference in being able to quickly help you figure things out. Cheers for a great find!

Master Die doubling, all three mints affected. Old JOe, noticed it right off by your arrows, you saw it. I always look at the you in TRUST first on any 72 I look at, the left upper is NW. One other 72 DDO has that marking, that way. The inside of the 2, corners of B and D are other places to check first...saves a lot of time on the 72's The leg of 2 has got to be multiple hit MD,surprised not more devices effected tho. It may be the 009, but I don't like the stairstep and is there a die dot below the leg of R in TRUST?
