I have this Canadian nickel that I've had for some time now and it seems to fit the description of the large dot variety if you draw a line up the middle of the numerals1&1 on the obverse the line ends up on the dot not between them and it appears that the jewel on the back of her crown is attached,so I decided to let everyone take a look and help me decide thanks for looking *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Look at the I in REGINA . If the I is on the left of the beads its worth 5 cents and if the I is on the right side of the beads than you have a winner.

Is that obverse or reverse with 138 dots because I believe I counted 138 on the reverse and the I in Regina appears to be slightly to the right of the dot and when drawing a line between the two ll the line lines up with the dot not between them thankstv

You should be counting the beads on the Obverse. Count the beads in the photo you supplied. 119 Don't go by drawing a line, If the line is not perfectly straight, it will look like it is in a different position.

I thought you understood that if the I in REGINA is to the left of the bead its wotrh a nickel as your coin is.

Here are two updated pictures of 1965 Canadian nickel thanks for looking are there supposed to be the same amount of dots on the obverse as the reverse I know there are only 119 on front but it also seems to fit the description on where the dots line up on the lettering

Wow- Your a hard guy to convince. Disregard the reverse. It has nothing to do with the varieties. Disregard drawing any lines. All you need to distinguish the two varieties is count the beads on the Obverse. By your own admission there are 119 beads which makes it the small bead variety.
