You can find the "Missing A" and 'Missing AD" in every year from 1968 to 1976.

There are a couple articles on this feature in the CN Journal from 1989 and 2015, available if you are an RCNA (Royal Canadian Numismatic Association) member.

There are also sometimes other letters missing in that banner, especially from 1974 and 1975.

So, why are they missing? Is it a die break?

I can still see a bit of the A, so maybe a weak strike?
