Just looking at the "S" MM details, the top half of "S" is thin looking while bottom half is clearly much thicker... I've heard of there being different varieties of the "S" MM used in same year(s) and wondering if this an example of that and if there's a list or something I can reference to know what MM varieties to look for on specific year(s) I would appreciate a lead as to where I can find it to store for my records!

That close-up isn't the sharpest, but it looks like a die chip.

That's what's known as a "filled S". It was caused by a broken mintmark puncheon. Seems to happen a lot on the S MM Punches.

Die chips and cracks were common in the 1950's. Here's one from my collection:
