Yes, thats WDDO-001. This is the same picture as the one on doubleddie.com. Did you find your own? Do you have a question about it? Why did you only post a picture from that website?

Yep, testing you guys to see if that MD term came up. It seems like everything in here is a MD. Just testing you. :) However, you shouldn't have to reference Wexler to tell me it's DDO or MD. It should be apparent. But yes, you got me LOL

While I think "testing" the board with a known coin without noting that up front is the wrong way to go about it, the topic is valid. Why does MD show up here all the time? Simple answer is that the only photos of doubled dies that most have ever seen are very strong examples from a couple of dates. While in fact most doubled dies are fairly trivial and often even strong ones are hard to spot. On the other hand MD looks like doubling and is strong and well who wouldn't want to know if the massive doubling they see is a doubled die and so they post here and often get the bad news. I find it quite logical that most of the posts by new collectors will be MD. My examples are 1957-D and 1971-D (an image I just made for a different topic). If you were a new collector, which one of these coins would you be more likely to get excited about and post here with questions?

tomasail the reason most are Machine Doubling is doubled dies are rare, very rare especially if your roll searching. When I first got on the forum I thought what a bunch of wet blankets. After searching and reading thousands of archived posts on this forum the light came on and I understood the remarkable talent and knowledge of the pillars and bedrocks. Posting a book pic of a 1971? I laughed at first then thought the moderators are gonna paddle you good. These folks can get grouchy, best not tease them (I know). Ok preachings over. What have you found out there, any luck? I'm up at around 1,400,000 and have found only 5 good ones and about 12 sort of good. About 20 RPM's along with the others. That's about one variety every 38,000 cents.its still a blast though isn't it? Tell us your finds if you roll search we all love when someone posts a goodies.
