Pulled this 1985-P out of a roll. Damage on the left edge but nothing on the right so doubt it was hit with something or pressed. I'm thinking mint damage.

Could be metal shears, but with those linear scratches on the edge, I'm with @mark1959 that a belt sander is the most likely weapon. However it was done, this is not a mint error and the coin is only worth face value.
