yesterday I posted a VAM-130C3, a coin I scored at a big pine pawn shop two summers ago. this first 1902-O is the other coin I bought along with that 1878, and I believe it to be a VAM-23, near date, doubled ear, two-olive reverse:

A-Pair-Of-1902-O-Morgans
A-Pair-Of-1902-O-Morgans

cool find: easy to see the near date, two olives and the inner ear doubling.

but I like this next one more. I scored this one from a junk silver bin at a miami coin shop a couple years back. the shattered die got past me on my first pick through the bin, but I saw it on my next pass:

A-Pair-Of-1902-O-Morgans

easy to see the near date, two olives and doubled profile.

the die break at E DO is a small monster. alan scott at VAMworld helped me with both of these and said this die break is an LDS of VAM-15A. it shows! that die should have been retired far sooner, imho. the die crack off the top of the E runs up to the bottom wing feathers of the eagle, via the arrow feathers & talon. i'd load more images to show more of the extensive cracking but image optimizer is being fussy at the moment.

yes, I was squealing all the way back to key west after this miami day trip.
Rest in Peace

An absolutely perfect example of how knowledge learned is the most valuable thing you can possess.

Sincere congratulations.
