The 3rd coin is listed on ebay as a restrike. Are you suggesting that is not even that?

moxking I agree that these should be easily identified. That was why I posted them.
The first coin (1778) sold for a bid of $ 178.50. There were 28 bids placed by 15 different bidders. The opening bid was $19.99 plus postage of $ 5.95, which is more than this Numismatic Forgery is worth. The seller from France is luc463. He has feedback over 15 thousand and a rating of 100%. I find it hard to believe that he would have such a rating is everything he sold was fake.
The second coin (1822 Ferdin VII) has not yet sold. It has been posted more that once and is now offered for a BIN of $49 in an auction where it is referred to as an 1821. The coin could be called a fantasy, however it is also a Numismatic Forgery made to defraud collectors.
The third coin is referred to as a Restrike in silver that brought a bid of $60 plus $3 postage. There were 21 bids placed by 11 different bidders. Even if it is silver, which I doubt, it is only worth melt value because it is in fact a typical Numismatic Forgery of the type made in China for under $1.
The real reason I posted these three was to show some novice members of the forum what these fakes look like. It is information that seem to be needed even more now based on comments I have seen in other posts.

Quote: It is information that seem to be needed even more now based on comments I have seen in other posts. I am not familiar with these specific coins, but from seeing many fakes and discussions about them here on CCF, I put my money on all three being fake before reading the comments. The quality of coins produced in those times would surprise many people not familiar with them, and these shown here have none of that sophistication.

Wow, the only one I thought as fakes is the third coin. Seems like I've got much to learn along the way (Gotta save pics of fakes for learning and future references)

The bust of Ferdinand VII looks a little bit like a young Bill Clinton in profile (no Lewinsky jokes, please!).

Interesting to see how many counterfeit items are making their way into the main stream after the reporting site was locked down.

nfine- The Counterfeit forums are not locked down, they are semi-private. There are still many counterfeits being reported every day.

For sure, as these terrible examples illustrate so well.
