As an avid FE collector, I'm always looking for more info, and I was wondering if there is literature, or online database of the known FE die pairings?
'indianvarieties.com' has a pretty good list of varieties, but is there something better?
I have a Rick Snow book for the FE and Indians - any other good books I should look at?
Thanks!

Snow has several books that relate to this subject. The best is "The FE and Indian cent Attribution Guide", Vol. 1 (1856-1858), which focuses only on FE cents.

Thanks, I'll see about picking that one up. Does it get into actual die pairs though?
Would there be other books that have varieties not included in Snow's books?
Besides feeding my 1857 FE addiction for knowledge, I'm asking as I believe I may have found a new variety of the 1857 FE, and want to be sure it's not already listed somewhere. My 3rd specimen of this 'new' variety should be showing up soon, at which time I'll disclose what I found :)

$199 for two volume set. Probably well worth it. If this is out of your price range, you might be able to find an earlier edition on ebay.... (not an advertisement, it's not me selling it).

I would LOVE the two volume hard back set, almost bought it months ago,,,,but bought a house instead. I've seen some paperback versions of Vol1, that just has the FE in it - but finding one for sale is difficult.
Anywho - if I have found a new variety, is it just a matter of contacting Rick Snow (and sending coins to him) to verify/get attribution? I figure he's one of, if not, the authority on FE/Indians.

He is THE authority, no doubt. The spiral-bound version of Vol. 1 (2nd edition) must still be around somewhere. You might just contact Karin (correct) on Rick's site and ask if she knows of any.

In numismatic literature, especially the very limited genres, you get what you pay for.
That volume is worth every cent, especially if you cherry pick shows.

What I do know is that back in 2014 he did a Kickstarter to fund the publishing individuals that pledged a certain amount received a PDF version of the books. The highest pledge amount was $225 and the person received the hardback books, the second edition of the Whitman guide (#6 in the series) and a PDF version of the hardbacks.
I think Rick wants to sell more of the hardbacks before making the PDF versions available in the marketplace. Best thing to do is to send an email and ask if you can purchase a PDF version. Worth a try.
