The 55 may have old cleaning, still see some vertical hairlines...yes most coins were given the blast white dip treatments in the 60's and 70's by dealers thinking the "public" (aka. idiots) wanted nice shiny coins. These do look naturally retoned, or even original skin on the 53. Love the arrows/rays on the 25/50c's myself, one of my favorite designs, just under the Walkers! Nice details for type set!

Both may have had old cleanings. The half I would judge fully "market acceptable" today, but I'd like a sharper pic of the quarter's obverse, which here seems to show indications of cleaning marks.

1853 25c - xf details cleaned 1855 50c - xf40. has indications of cleaning and some rim dings, but may be market acceptable.

53 is showing physical cleaning with parallel lines.
55 wiped, but not harshly.
Both EF if they fly under the cleaning detail.

1853 Quarter looks VF-35 to me...too much wear on the legs. 1855 is EF-40. They both looked like they've been cleaned. For future purchases, watch out for hairlines and scratches (like those on the obverse of the half dollar.) In fact, I don't like the rims of the half. Perhaps removed from a jewelry mount?
