Hi, I recently took a gamble on the Kang Xi cash coin ( hartill 22.85?) for 0.75 but I'm starting to think it's a reproduction due to the uniformity of the surfaces and poor casting of some of the characters, notably"bao". I would very much welcome a second opinion and any characteristics to look out for when trying to identify cash coin repros.

Hello! Based on my observation, this seems to be genuine coin. The patina and surface of the coin is fine, since the casting method created that surface. Nothing like those current repros for Fengshui, etc. A common piece though, goes around 50 cents to a dollar apiece. Good piece of history!

@63H, depending on the weight/diameter, it could be Hartill #22.86. I agree with @ATCM that there is nothing that screams "fake" for your coin (although in various CCF quizzes over the years, I have repeatedly shown my lack of skill in this area).
