Hello members,

I have found a 1961 penny with a cross line or striking line over Lincoln's head. Need your opinion on this 1961 penny. Thank you.

Mara

Unfortunately, it's just PMD (Post Mint Damage). This coin had a very rough life in circulation and you can see all of the pushed in and displaced metal from getting hit from something sharp. Worth face value.

Here's what RPM stands for. Repunched Mintmark. Up until 1990, the mintmarks used to be punched in by hand, so if the placement or position was off, they would have to try again and repunch the Mintmark in its correct position. All mintmarks are now carved into the coin die during the die making process.
