I got this a while ago from another member and have been trying to track down an RIC number for it.

While I can find plenty that look similar on Wildwinds.com, there are none that quite match.

Here is what I know.
It is between 11 and 12 mm in diameter and weighs 1.5 grams on my scale.
Obverse looks to be VRBS? Roma Facing left
Reverse is She-Wolf facing left with Romulus and Remus below.

There are also 2 stars with a "U" in between above the She-Wolf on the reverse. This is what is throwing me off.

Any help in nailing this one down would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Mont.

Could the "u" be a partially worn wreath?

It could be..or it could be a crescent.

The closest I have found is
Arles
RIC VIII 8, P
crescent
Found here http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/...tml#urbsroma

The only thing is, all these commemorative coins have lettering below Romulus and Remus. This one doesn't appear to. Is it possible this is a Barbarous coin?

it is a commemorative Urbs Roma AE coin from 330/340.THe lettering below Romulus and Remus is only missing , because your coin is not well centered .Between the stars is a crescent .It could be a coin from Arles, but to be sure , you have to chech the different mints and compare the style of the she-wolf and Roma . albert

Your coin appears to be on a reduced size flan, measuring about 14-15mm across. If so it is one of the later URBS ROMA city commemoratives. The only use of a crescent between the stars took place in Arelate in 337-341, and corresponds to RIC VIII 15 for Arelate. Your coin is not often seen, and would be a well preserved example if the mint mark were readily visible. I think the tops of the final letters of the mark (NST) can be seen. Although we cannot specify the officina that struck it (P or S), there is enough to go on to be sure of the main attribution.
