Seems like the Canadian Nickel made of 99.9 nickel would be best to save as it would be easy to sell to scrape yard unlike penny which is part copper and zinc and nickel has better price than copper.

Canadian cents, pre 1981, melt value about double face value.
Canadian nickels, pre 1981, melt value pretty much equal to face value plus 10%.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Back when 1981 and older nickels were still common and nickel prices were high I gathered over 75 pounds of them. These days I'm lucky to find one a month.

Yes, due to the mint having already figured that out, the ARP (Alloy Recovery Program) has been removing the older, more valuable metals from circulation for many years now.
