Nice looking coin. I like the star for the Madrid mint mark. Just a tidbit - The larger date (1905) on the coin indicates when it was authorized, and the little numbers (05) on the star indicate when it was minted.

great looking coin.

Extremely nice example of an Alfonso XIII coin. Three earlier coins of the King were as a 'Toddler', 'Baby', and 'Child'. I am working on a research project that centers around coins related to Alfonso XIII, and just read in a members comment, 'His mother used coins to present/introduce him to the Nation.'. If anyone is familiar with this aspect of the coinage, would you please share your information and/or provide sources that reference King Alfonso XIII's mother using coins to present/introduce him to the Nation? It would be greatly appreciated.
