I need some help trying to find out some history / details on a coin (i think)...

Its a 1965 Lincoln Cent thats either the same size or bigger than an Eisenhower dollar...

It doesn't have any logo's or branding so I have no idea what company made this... I wonder if it was really produced in 1965 for one... It does have the same appearance of any pre-1982 brown cent so I beleive its solid copper...

On the back below the lincoln memorial it has written "The Lincoln Coin Memorial"

Other than that... if you shrank this down you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between this and a real Lincoln Cent!

Does anyone know where these were made? Why? Whats the story?

Without seeing any pictures, it sounds like you are describing some kind of a commemorative coin.

Someone on a different forum had a 1965 LMC coin about the size of a half dollar and weighted about 3/4 oz and it was made in Sudsbury Canada- maybe you can try re-searching from there.
Good luck!

Did it look anything like this one?

I bought a few of these and they are very realistic but instead of being 3/4" in diameter they are 3" in diameter!

What chuckster is describing sounds right because I can see a very faint "_____ Canada" on the back but I cant read the first word... its actually bigger than a half dollar... 3/4 ounce is probably about right if I had to guess...

If it is what I am thinking it is, then it is a novelty item. About two years ago I went into my local coin shop and bought a few on these coins: a penny (can't find it to compare to yours), a Walking Liberty half dollar, Indian Head penny, Shield 5 cents and a $20 Saint Gaudens Double Eagle and only pain about a dime a piece for them. I asked about them and can not remember what exactly the dealer told be, but that they are a novelty item so if anyone else knows more about them I also would appreciate it. When I get my scanner working again I will post some pictures as well.
