Hello everyone I was going through on old junk drawer and came across this 84 oenny not sure if it's planched clipped or not as I am new to this I joined this community to learn some new stuff and to ask for your opinions which are much appreciated.
to CCF. Does not look genuine to me,sorry. If I remember right, the blanks are copper plated after they are punched out of the sheet and then go through the upset process and then minted into a coin. The edge of the clip should be copper not zinc in color.Wait for a pro to chime in. John1
It is a faked incomplete planchet. The gray color always gives it away on the Zincolns. They even faked the Blakesley affect on this coin. (But it is in the wrong place to be the look real, when it is not.
