I would love some input on this coin. From the few images I have seen, my coin is in excellent condition. Interested parties please feel free to email me. These images are of the actual coin. I did however change the tint a bit to better match the true color.

Please review the Selling Rules for the forum.

I can't offer an opinion on the coin.

It is a demi-Ecu of Louis XV of La Rochelle, France of the 'huit Ls' reverse. It looks like it has salt water damage, possibly a La Chameau ship wreck piece that has been cleaned? The reverse designs changed often and this reverse design was used earlier as was the bust design making King Louis age from a small child to a grown man on French coins issued over time. The detail is excellent but the surfaces have issues. Still this is a neat piece of history.
Rest in Peace

surface damage of some type does reduce the numismatic value, but it is a great piece of history and appears authentic.

There is no 1/2 ecu for La Rochelle 1725. This would be the full ecu denomination.

This would appear to be a cast replica of a Chameau wreck find.

How would I find out whether or not this is indeed a cast replica or an original?
