Hello, I'm fascinated by "Vistas of Liberty" American Eagle Platinum Proof Coins. They are one of the most beautiful American coins, which I saw. I would like to know everything about this Eagles - prices, where to buy it, do you like it etc.?

Here is some photos:

I agree it is a very good looking coin. You can purchase online at http://www.usmint.gov

They have been coming out every year since 1996? I think..be aware though they are very pricey $1000+ dollars for the one you posted a picture of.

The "Vistas of Liberty" series ran from 1998-2002 with five different designs. The designs were only on the proof issues, not the investment grade bullion issues. The five were as follows:

1998 Eagle Over New England
1999 Eagle Above Southeastern Wetlands(#1 pictured by OP )
2000 Eagle Above America's Heartland
2001 Eagle Above America's Southwest(#3 pictured by OP)
2002 Eagle Fishing in America's Northwest(#2 pictured by OP)

Since each coin contains one ounce of platinum, they are very expensive. The current spot price of platinum is almost $2200 so that would be the minimal price. Since these are not current, you would not be able to purchase from the Mint, only secondary retailers. The current series is titled "The Foundations of American Democracy" featuring the three branches of government.

The platinum proof coins are unique, because the reverse changes every year. This year will mark the third and final branch of the government. Platinum proof coins come in 4 different denominations. Right now they are a little pricy.

Hi romekd,
Thanks for pointing these out. Wow, minted at West Point to boot! I love the crocodile, but have my eyes on the 2002 since I live in the NW. Fish jumping out of the water is too cool. I'll have to sell the 1987 Panda gold proof set I purchased several years ago and hope someone else enjoys it as much as I have.

The most expensive example I found is a 2002 $100 NGC certified MS70 for $3964 but that's a little spendy for my blood. You might try Gold Silver and Platinum Rare Coins. He has several coins with face values of $100, $50, $25 and $10. If you find better prices while searching let me know.
