Found this 1942-S. It does have a small lamination right by the mintmark but I don't think it would cause this - so what say you, An RPM? as I couldn't attribute it to any known on Wexlers unless I missed it.

not sure but looks like the top of the S took a hit and metal got sliced away and pushed up!

This is pretty much what all the 42-S MM look like. What made me wonder is where does all that "moved" metal come from? And you see the top serif already touches the body. Just wondering.
