This coin has an overflow of plating, I think, outside of America. In the photos it looks like goo but it is the same color of the rest of the coin under less magnification. I am sure it is part of the minting process rather than post mint action. What is this and how is it caused?
Thanks

Rich

Well these are not plated, they are silver. It looks like something on coin in that area.

yeah coop I am trying to get a better pic. I just don't think it is post mint. Is that possible? Could anything cause that type of error in the minting process. working on it. Thanks

yep it scraped off easily. In my studies of minting I could not think of a way it could happen and you all are right. I guess just goo. Yuk Smile R

Thanks so much for reporting your finding afterwards. Many folks don't say anything if they find out we were right.

Your moral compass is now pointed toward finding a great error
