The presentation shows how the UK gets it right when it comes to antiquities laws. Because these laws respect the property rights of the land owner and the detectorist they are both willing to work with the archaeological authorities when a horde is found. Contrast this with other countries where hordes are confiscated, thereby encouraging the finds to be held privately or sold on the black market. Report this Post to the Staff

The Wold Newton Hoard closely resembled the coin make up of what we acquired from a hoard in France.
