It wasn't until the early 1990s that lifetime denarii of Commodus from the mint of Alexandria were recognised. I searched for one for many years. They still appear to be quite rare.
I did track one down about 4 years ago which was holed but given the scarcity I was happy to give it a home.
Commodus denarius
Obv:- M COMM ANTO - N AVG PIVS BRIT, Laureate head right
Rev:- LIR AVG R M TR P - XVII COS VII P P, Libertas standing left folding pileus and sceptre
Minted in Alexandria. A.D. 192
Reference:- BMCRE -. RIC -. RSC -.
3.44g. 17.52 mm. 0 degrees.

And then a couple of weeks ago I spotted this one. The dealer had allocated it to Rome. It is an obverse die match but from a different reverse die.

There are also Commodus CONSECRATIO types available which are also rare, I have yet to spot one.
Does anyone else have any of either type?
