According to the following article - http://news.coinupdate.com/the-roya...ullion-coin/

there are supposed to be two special silver bullion coins this year.

So far my contact in Canada can only find the incuse one.

Any idea of the one with 30 on it has been released?

Thanks,
Ken

Information on the availability and mintage of the second SML with the numeral 30 seems to be scarce, though I would presume both will be released through the dealer network over the next few months in addition to the regular SML.

With a mintage of 250k and ? for the double dated obverse there will be plenty to go around albeit much higher demand from collectors.

I will definitely be purchasing one of each and hope that the RCM has solved it's irritating Milk Spot problem once and for all!

So wait, the RCM is really going to make sure the silver maples from 2018 onward no longer will have milk spots, even the bullion ones? I am reading that correctly?

from the RCM site.. keywords -for reducing white spots.

MINTSHIELD™ from the Royal Canadian Mint is the world's first and only proven solution for reducing white spots on silver bullion coins — a proprietary advancement developed by the innovative minds at the Royal Canadian Mint and applied to every Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin dated 2018 or later.

So you guys think that with 250,000 minted these are just another bullion coin? I don't disagree, I'm just thinking of 1996 ASE was around 1M minted and it apparently has some value...

"reducing" is the key word here.
But that will be a great improvement!

@stev18 Yes on the 1996 1M Eagles having value....but there are
a much greater collection base for the Eagles.
Not so much for Maples.

Thanks Debrajc. That's actually the response I was expecting. Still kinda cool though. When I look at bullion coins, I look at wether it has provenance. So for example, I really don't buy sunshine mint rounds etc as they have no governmental base. So basically I would stick to libertads philharmonic, ASE etc. I don't know why, they only cost more and are still bullion, but whatever it's what makes me happy and feeling safe :)

I bought the incuse Maple as I already have the "25" Maple (and the 30 isn't all that different). I've always been kind of fascinated by the $2.50 and $5 US gold Eagles that had the incuse design, that were criticized for a lack of hygiene, ease of counterfeiting, and poor artistic appearance. Impractical for a proper circulating coin of course, but it's kind of cool to have a modern coin struck that way.
