I'm working on my Roosevelt collection and have been looking for a nice condition 1943/2 Roosevelt Nickle to fill a "hole" in my CAPS album, and recently found this listing on ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-2-Jef...272742634167

But I am a bit surprised at this being listed as a "MS63" coin given the condition shown in the photos:

I'm still a bit of newbie, but looking at my handy "PCGS Photograding App" that shows nice photos of all the grades, this looks to be between a "VF20" and a "VF30" given that I can make out a bit of detail in the hair and the and on the reverse can just make-out 3 pillars and a tiny bit of the top triangle of Monticello. And that is probably being "generous" given how dirty the coin is.

But no way this could be a MS63?

I wouldn't buy this coin based on its condition and price, but is this perhaps a "scam" and someone swapped the coin in the holder for something else?

Regards,

Michael

Accurately graded from what those photos provide. The two tone toning makes it difficult to determine exact grade, although it's certainly mint state.

I think this is a Jefferson nickel, not a Roosevelt nickel? No problem with grade here either.

Certainly Mint State. Don't know where you got VF from...

Looks fine to me, although the toning makes for slightly worse eye appeal than other Jefferson nickels graded 63.

Unfortunately that is not the right coin in th holder. It is not a MS coin at all, the wear on the reverse shows an VF at best. Then, there is no OVD. Nor is there any way to confirm if it is the correct coin:

The obverse shows MS. The reverse photo is so bad with thick toning that it's impossible to judge that reverse.

ANACS professional grader with the coin in hand under optimum viewing potential versus terrible photos.

If your betting on the terrible photos, good luck with your own purchases.

I'm with Crazyb0 on this one . I think the Super Bowl might be influencing some guys eye sights on the reverse of this coin . Obverse is hard to grade - dirty toning . Agree with a VF reverse .
