I have this gold Manitoba gold 1898 0ne Dol proof that was coined in 1950`s. Queen Victoria and Maple Leaf name minted.
Papers on token forum that RCMP impounded the dies and balance of coins.
Made by Superior coins in Ottawa Manitoba. apox 200 1 dol and some 1/2 dol coins are in existence.
Are these still illegal to have in Canada? Curious

I wrote a forum on CCF some time ago. A dealer friend said they were not legal. There are some for sale on ebay

Thanks
Gary

What I think your asking is if your fake 1898 gold coins made from stolen dies in the 50's are illegal. No, they only become illegal if you try to pass it off as the authentic coins, which then it becomes fraudulent.

Not illegal to have in your possession.

Also Canada and Provinces gold tokens by Mike Locke reference # Green #790. I downloaded this info in 12/2003.
I traded my 1886-S Morgan dollar for it back in 1966-67 era.
I was asking if the coin legal to sell to a person in Canada since it was seized there
