Quote: Madagascar 1943 1 Franc Really like that one. I used to have a big, mean Rooster when I was younger.

Quote: I used to have a big, mean Rooster when I was younger. The cock of the walk! My grandmother would tell me how she had to negotiate with a rather proud rooster when she collected eggs from his hens on the family farm as a kid.

Here's a proof commemorative gold coin from Canada that was issued to help mark the bicentennial of the War of 1812; it has a troy weight of 1/4 ounce of 0.9999 fine gold. On its reverse, the coin features a mix of fauna and flora, namely, allegorical representations of the war's participants - Canada (Maple Leaf), Britain (Lion) and the US (Eagle). The coin was also issued as a bullion piece. As a fan of allegory on coins, I was immediately attracted to this piece and it was an easy decision to add it to my collection.
