Do you think this coin is a mule with a gold peso obverse? Have owned for some time.

Good eyes to catch that - this particular mule is actually well documented, and in fact, it seems to be the only configuration in which the denomination was produced that year by this branch mint, all 180K of them. In addition, a mule of the 1898 Guanajuato struck gold peso utilizing the then newly adopted, revised design cinco centavos obverse die is also known.
