1952 D LWC Silver Or Steel Or What? Can Someone Help?

So I got this as change today. It looks like a steel or silver Wheat cent, but it looks weird, like someone spray painted it. Someone else must have thought that too, because of the scratches...they are deep but it appears to be all the same alloy...it weighs 3 grams ( .10 oz)...can someone help?

This was no doubt plated. Why the scraper didn't give up sooner is a mystery!

Also scratched up badly. You can see the copper showing through the bad plating.

School science projects sometimes use the plating process and use cents as examples of same.
