From what I understand of the process, the grader counts blemishes found on each side. 3 blemishes lower it one grade point THAT side. Graded sides then are averaged out for the total grade. Your "ding" may rate 2 points, its the grader's decision, and believe you me, they will scrutinize. You see one, how bout the edge and rim? They do look under glass(10x) and will see imperfections where you don't. From what I see, need to see the whole coin at once, rims are questionable for a real high grade, but it would be in range of MS67/68. Ding kills it from 70, you knew that. It is so difficult to accurately grade if not in hand!!

Your coin makes me drool and your pics are very good. I'd give it a 69, but NGC and PCGS would never hire me.

Funny, thank you. At 69 it's worth slabbing, at 68 the cost of slabbing is worth more than the Coin. My gut is telling me that they would call it a 67 or 68 but I have no basis for this
