The pictures aren't sharply focused, but there might be a trace of wear on the wreath. The unnatural color and lack of luster suggest a past cleaning or dipping. But it's free of marks and I'm not certain of the wear, so I'll say Unc details.

All details a little 'mushy'.
Nice red color, but no luster.
Check for comparative ping test, exact weight, and exact diameter, to find out for sure.

I am thinking pressure cast fake, I hope I am wrong.

The temptation to reproduce a $250 coin is pretty high.

Pics are not sharply focused enough to determine wear.

EDIT: It's difficult to grade from these pictures. Better pictures would help.

It looks like a nice coin to me. I have an 1849 in a problem free holder that displays a similar color. Perhaps it is a characteristic for the year? I can't judge wear based on the pics but would think AU-58 at least with a possibility of MS after seeing it in hand.

This is all I have at the moment. Will post better pics when in hand. Thanks!

Seller appears to be an intermediate U.S. copper coin collector who knows Bob Grellman. Not too worried about authenticity although anything is possible until I see the coin in hand.

I doubt that it's fake. But better pics would definitely help for grading.

I have recently seen some really deceiving proven fakes of rare Australian bronze coins, in the same sort of condition, with the same sort of appearance.

Sure enough to raise serious doubts in my mind, but not completely sure. THAT is when you have a dangerous fake.

I see nothing from the image that tells me it's fake.

But I would definitely like to see sharper pictures once in hand.

I recommend you look at images of Braided Hair Large Cents and compare them to this coin.

If anyone has a reference book, would you be able to help me attribute this? Thanks!

There are almost 30 varieties listed on PCGS Coinfacts, some of them were omitted N-6, 13, 15, etc...

Yeah, hoping that someone has the Grellman/Reiver attribution reference book.
