My brother bought this coin from a local coin show 30 years ago and he has since passed away. I have tried a few other sites looking for any information about this. Someone wrote Chinese Cash Ma Huang on the cardboard 2x2 but I can't find anything like this anywhere. It is not perfectly round but measures about 26mm in diameter and from 2 to 3 mm in thickness. It weighs about 5.5 grams. Not sure what it is made of either, Copper, Brass, Gold? Is it real? Is it real old? Anyone have any idea what it is and what it could be worth? Thanks for any info.

It's a rather poorly made copy of a Chinese Ban Liang, one of the earliest standardizes coin types made from the 3rd-2nd century BC. Genuine pieces can be somewhat crude or poorly made, but never misshapen or warped.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at least this piece brings back a good memory shared with your brother.

That's quite alright at least that gives me a somewhat idea about this. I was told on another site that it was just a button. I do know that this is at least 30 years old, do you think it could be older like maybe an ancient forgery? Probably not though I'm sure my brother didn't pay more than a couple dollars for it I was just wondering. I have been collecting coins with my brother since 1966 and like I said I've not seen anything else like this one. I'll probably just put it back in the coffee can. Thanks for the info
