If not, there are others. Copper? Try African continent.

Definitely not a Kiwi - man or animal.
My guess is an ancient Greek bronze.

Likely a semis from Carisa, Iberia, with the warrior's shield well worn and appearing as part of the animal's (horse, that is) body. They issued some weird looking horses:

Oh wow bob, thats it.

So I asssume this is when Hispania was a roman province... this was most likely a provincial coin?

Thank you so much! I just couldnt figure out what the heck it was!

Nice work!

I think it would be considered Celtiberian, Matt.

Happy to help a Bryn Mawr fellow. Ex-Philadelphian here.

When a piece is corroded (like the face size is here), sometimes easier to compress the pic down to see detail. There's actually quite a bit there:

i can see what you mean realeswatcher, ty

bob, ty for everything( bryn mawr is a pretty nice area- I used to shop at that thrift store years ago at the hospital there)... Celtiberian, these as celtic-hispanio tribes during 1st and 2nd century spain before Roman republic occupied the area?

Would these be the same tribes that Hannibal came across while traveling from Spain to Gaul to the Alps to enter Italy?

and over 100 years later this coin was probably minted( before Rome occupied that part of spain?

for example (Carissa, Cadiz Province, Spain, 100 BC-0 BC)
