I'm new to collecting coins and trying to find different types of errors. John, Coop and everyone else on here, I really appreciate all the help you guy have provided. what do you think of this dime and what type of error is this? is this a true DD?

The die is SO deteriorated - that's what caused it!

Naz, you may really want to get your head wrapped around the CAUSE of doubled dies, what makes/forms them. It IS NOT a striking process, it happens when the dies are made. Read Vol 1 below, may help.

I agree that it is caused by an extremely worn die.
