Hello all,

Just joined and this is my first post.

I come from a bullion/modern collectible background and have just dipped my toe into the interesting world of old historic coins so I am a complete newbie with zero knowledge of grading (not so popular here in the UK)

I have just purchased the below Philip II 2 Escudos Cob from the Toledo mint from a well established coin dealer in France and was wondering if its worth getting it sent off for grading.

The cross seems nicely centered with a fairly good strike and the shield side has most of the crown.

Apologies for the poor quality pics, taken with a camera phone, 2 with flash, 1 without.

I do not know the potential grade value, but you need to understand the submission cost and postage/insurance cost for submitting a single coin. Check with the third party grader. Could be a weak strike or just wear. Look at a few more of the on that wonderful internet auction site we all love. She how yours stacks up and then decide. Personally I hate slabs, I like to hold coins in my hands. I guess I'm getting old. Think of all those old coins that survived all those years without slabs.

Thanks for the heads up. I am a member of precious metals forum in the UK and a trusted member there runs a group grading submission service which makes things a little easier.
