I've filled my Euro Dansco album (7400) but after doing some reading I've learned that my Euro type set isn't finished. Now my question is, what's missing? Which countries constitute the European Union? What do I need to have to have a complete Euro type set? If anyone has/knows where to find some sort of list of all the Euro sets available, that would be immeasurably helpful.

Thanks for your help!

I've found there are enough euro collectors who are Wikipedia fans to ensure that the articles on Wikipedia like this one are reasonably accurate and up-to-date.

This Wikipedia article shows the current and proposed future members of the Eurozone.

With Greece, some of the first-issue Euros had a letter in the one of the stars on the obverse.

florida,
Thanks, someone (Sap I think) posted a topic on that just recently. Some of mine do bear mintmarks. It will be interesting to see which mints had higher/lower mintages if this information is ever released.

I'm a little bit confused by this. Have these coins been minted yet or just that the designs have been chosen?

The "patterns" spica refers to are all unofficial (privately made).

No official "patterns" have been struck for any of the countries not currently in the Eurozone, though several have announced what their euro coin designs are going to be: Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Slovakia. Slovakia is scheduled to join the euro in 2009; The others have a few years to go yet.

You have these countries, but remember that for all but the last three you have two different common sides. Some are changing their mint marks as well, though probably at the same time as changing the common side. Monaco and the vatican have changed their "national" side due to death. Then you have the have all the 2 euro coins.

Hi to all,

Not all the countries has the Euros for the traffic, they make it alone for the collectors, it is the case of Vatican, Monaco and also San Marino (though in San Marino there are circulating coins). Also you have to know that some countries has commemorative coins of 2€ since the year 2004.

With regard to the common faces all the countries have the same common face, from the entry in the Euro of new countries (Slovenia 2007), from this year all the countries have put the same common face. Therefore, a coin of 2002 haven´t the same back that another different coins of 2007, though it is very similar.

I put two webpages with the issues of every country. Regards.

of course euro is a new story in coin collection w/ several differences coin by coin and countries by countries,
a couple of additional info:
- after countries, a second level of difference is the mint, Greece 2002 has a set minted in Greece and a set minted in other countries, the mint mark for other countries is reported (as above said) in the star close to the coin date, Germany has 5 mint marks each year (thugh some coin some year has been minted only in the BU Set), all other countries doesn't have different mint mark in the same year (at my knowledge).
- about mintage, an un-official site but w/ very accurate information is this one: http://www.euro-auflagen.de/index.php?lang=en mantained from a Germa coin collector.

@telemaco007: Right, most euro countries started using the "new map" in 2007. A few, such as Austria or Italy, did not do that until 2008 (except for the Treaty of rome '07 coins that all have the new map). Also Belgium is kind of tricky because they introduced the new reverse (map) in 2007, and this year came up with a new obverse (portrait). Still King Albert on all pieces but with a few modifications.

By the way, "Iglesia de Ludwigskirche", that's like saying "Church of Ludwig's Church" :) The Ludwigskirche, named after the prince Ludwig (Luis) who had it completed, is in the state capital Saarbrücken ...

@ rosso_rubino: Thanks for the information. I never knew what the letters in the stars meant. If I would have known about the letters in the stars, I would have looked more closely at the ~70 Euros worth of coins we spent in Greece.

I would really like to get some of these! They are definitely on my list!

Do they make 2 Euro Dansco albums? If not, how have you chosen to store them?

Hi Arthrene,

I don´t know if there are albums for commemorative coins of 2€ because these coins are minted each year for some countries. The euro coins collectors make your own albums. You can see my webpage, there are all coins of euro with photo until this year: http://personales.ya.com/telemaco007/indice.htm

Regards.
