I believe I have narrowed down from five to two candidates the varieties for this dime: JR-3 or JR-4

Please opine as to which one of these it is. Or if you think that the non-varietal version more closely matches, just say so:

JR-3. Can't be 4 because JR-4 has a fancy 8 in the date. 1.2, and 3 have block 8's. Yours is a block 8. 3 and 4 share the same reverse though with the F in OF low, 1 and 2 don't have that. The F is low on yours, so block 8 and low F is JR-3.

Also every JR-4 known has a bisecting crack from 11:00 to 5:00.
