I had high hopes of these two but the problem with buying coins from outside the USA is that every now and again customs will "inspect" the package and for some reason a visual inspection is never enough someone has to remove the coins from their holders and handle them. this is the second time this has happened to me. Anyway here they be in all their remaining glory.

G'day, I haven't seen that effigy of the Queen before.
That's a strange story about customs.
Lovely coins: did either of them have a circulating version ?

Very nice coins. It's too bad the customs guys had to handle them. I'm assuming that both images are Admiral Nelson?

Yep both are Nelson
They can be spent but as the silver content is worth more than face I would not be inclined to do so.
5 Pound coins generally don't circulate very much.

G'day, I guessed that they were silver, from the beautiful surfaces.
I was wondering if either was a silver version of some other circulation strike ?
For example, the Royal Oz Mint often puts out a silver proof, parallel to a base-metal circulation coin.

There was a CU issue but I did not pay much attention to it as my focus is on sliver for Crowns. I think the CU versions were dated 2006 but I have been known to be wrong.

What in the devil for? I've never had a package from Australia or Canada "inspected" like that.

Nice commems of Admiral Nelson. I can only guess the one pertains to his death in battle...I seem to recall a painting that was similar.

To tell the truth £5 coins don't circulate at all. Alot of shop assistants would look at you as it you were trying a fast one and have to go check with someone what this big "foreign" looking coin was.
