Hello! I just got admitted for undergraduate Life Science course in University of Toronto However, I'm still waiting for a scholarship, without which I would be unable to afford the fees required for the study. Around 37 recepients of the scholarship will be announced on April so it's still uncertain until then. I'm very excited about the possibility of studying there and getting closer to most of the members in this forum. No more super-expensive shipping If I don't get the scholarship, though, I have no choice than to reject the offer and enroll in a local university in my hometown due to financial reasons. It's at least 12 times cheaper here... We'll see how it goes on April Edited by Guybrush 02/23/2018 08:28 am

I am curious, is there any way to increase your chances on the scholarship? Whatever the answer, I wish you luck, skill, and talent!

Thanks everyone! Quote: I am curious, is there any way to increase your chances on the scholarship? We wrote 4 essays as an application for the scholarship so they are the most determining factor. The selection staff may or may not look at the documents submitted for the university admission though, not sure as admission & scholarship are 2 different processes.

Good luck Rio, you have a good command of the language and seem like there is a bit of brain matter to deaden the echo chamber between the ears! Sounds like a wonderful opportunity. I had an opportunity to "study abroad" at your age, and actually had the opportunity to see your part of this globe...in 1970 . But luckily my "scholarship" kept me in the States...

Good luck with the scholarship. I am curious tho on what the fees are for attending a Canadian University to someone not living in Canada. I am from Montreal Canada and it cost me around 3 to 5 thousand Canadian a year to attend university in the province of Quebec. I am wondering how much the government subsidies cover our tuition's. I know in the US, I was looking at $25k a year for prep-school and I heard that Universities were in the ballpark of $100k a year.

@TheBurnz according to the Univ. of T website, the tuition fee is around $6000 for domestic students and $46000 for international students. Not sure if they are total or annual fees though, still way too expensive

I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you! That would be a fantastic opportunity, but I certainly understand the finances dictating choices of university. I grew up in Texas and was accepted to two different Texas universities for Music, but I couldn't afford either of them even with the in-state tuition reduction. I ended up going across the border to Louisiana.
