Hello, I came across a 2006 D penny that has a mirror image and is shiny like a proof coin. I've taken some pictures showing a 1971 S proof coin and a 2016 penny referencing the 2006 D penny. Is it possible or is this just a shiny coin? Please let me know your thoughts and opinions. Thank you!

Just a business strike coin. Proof coins are struck with Proof dies. A proof coin will always be a proof coin, but if circulated it is now an impaired proof coin. A business strike coin can't become a proof coin. I found a situation of the same year coin from the same mint that the coins struck with a certain die looked like yours. They stood out in the roll. There was an anomoly on it that made it stand out:

But it was not a doubled die, but a die issue breaking down or damaged on that area. But the coin was the same year and mint as your coin. (the shine of your coin reminded me of the coin I found years ago.) 12 years ago since then.

Did you check the 'L" on your coin? It maybe from the same batch as your coin.

Sometimes, I see dimes that are super reflective too. They are just minted from fresh dies, I'm guessing, just like PL and DMPL Morgans.

Id say you may have a business strike on a proof planchette. Only reason I say check it out is because I ran into a 2009 D that looked like a proof planchet. Proof strikes will have a thick rim that s flat with 90% corners. A business strike has a rounded rim. 2009 proof planchette are made from same alloy as the original 1909. Weighs 3.1 instead of 2.5 grams. My 2009 D weighs 3.1 grams so easier to prove. I'd bring it to a NGC affiliated coin shop to see if you have an error planchet or an very high grade coin.

To CCF! You might want to create a new thread, since this one is almost 10 months old.

2009 mint set cents were also made on 3.11 gram copper planchets.
