Has been harshly treated with chemicals, to either
1. Bring up the detail in the cleaning process, after recovery from burial, or
2. Hide the signs of it being fake.

Has since patinated somewhat.

I have to admit, I can't make up my mind with this one.

I would be much happier with an independently verifiable provenance.

I clean it with vulpex and destilled water.
