ok I'm a bit confused now. I am new to this so bear with me.
AU = About uncirculated - correct?

so how can it be worth only bullion value when its AU55 which is above EF40 (value $2.00)? (bullion value is $1.23 on this dime)

I must be missing something here. Can you help me out here?

While a book, or website, may tell you this coin is worth $2.00, as a practical matter, you would have a difficult time finding a buyer at the price, or any price above melt value.

AU-55. Worth bullion value. 1964 is an extremely common date, so any AU 1964 dime is worth bullion value only.
