Hey Topekaguy-
I just put that Statue of Liberty Commemorative I found, in my Dansco 7070. I started a 7070 (no gold) several months ago. After seeing so many outstanding 7070 albums here over the years, I thought to myself NO-WAY! But a came to realize, I actually already had many of the coins in my collection. So I started an album. Keep in mind, it's not a high-end quality album. I'm pretty much just filling holes.
I kept looking at this commemorative I found CRH over and over again and couldn't figure out why. I finally hit me. As you know, it's a proof "S" mint mark. The coin has no major scratches, hit or damage. The only problem is circulation wear. As I mentioned earlier, the proof luster is completely gone! The eye appeal (for me) is that it looks like a business strike, which is pretty cool. It perfectly fits the theme of the album.

 with ckrakowski , they are all commemoratives although many don't agree for some reason. |

I'm old enough to recall Carver-Washingtons, B.T. Washingtons, and an occasional Stone Mountain in circulation ca. 1960 ...

In canada ive found a 2004 golf dime crh and a teller gave me one commemorative nickel maybe 1997 drums thinking it was foreign.

I didn't save any of those, but I have much nicer ones now. Also found a 1911 Indian Quarter Eagle in a roll of dimes (no D, no matter how hard I squinted) and an 1893-S in a coffee can full of ordinary used Morgans while part-timing at a LCS.

^ The fun part was the unsuspecting non-collector's reaction when I told him about that "odd looking dime" in the roll ; I think we were paying about $125 for circulated Indian Q.E.s at the time - I don't know how the 93-S landed in the $12/ea circ. dollar can but it was also gratifying to tell the elderly dealer about the find so he could write it up properly for sale ( his vision was poor in later years and he must've purchased it in a group across the counter - good ol' fella would have duly informed the seller otherwise )

I found this one today roll searching. It's an "S" and clad. Did they make an "S" in business strike? Was it a proof? It's not silver.   Edited by USSID18

Thanks two_tonevf35. It was an ender on one of the rolls. I didn't even know what it was, when I first saw it!  I had to look it up in the RedBook.  |
